Important Notice to all participants coming from the US:  Remember you are required to have a valid passport to get back into the US after going to Canada. 

Regarding places to stay, there are at least 17 hotels, motels, and inns in Nanaimo. See the Where to Stay page for our recommendations. (If you have friends or relatives in the area, you might also consider enjoying their hospitality, if you are having a budget crunch. )  Students, and others, who are interested in saving money by sharing hotel rooms should email Brett Farvaro at:  bfavaro@sfu.ca

We assume most participants will be driving to the venue.  See the Directions page. For those not living on Vancouver Island, we suggest you check out the BC Ferries website, and highly recommend car-pooling. We are looking into getting a discount and/or setting up a car-pool scheme. Suggestions are welcome. If you  chose to fly, be aware there may be delays with special immigration/security procedures because of the Olympic and Special Olympic Games.
