All Food & Entertainment below is Included in Registration. Includes Tuesday Night Poster and Tradeshow Social, break refreshments, Wednesday evening raffle and awards banquet and entertainment. All events are at the Vancouver Island Conference Center unless otherwise noted.

  • Monday Night: Informal Welcoming Social
    For guests arriving March 1, join fellow conference participants at The Best Western Dorchester in the Chairman’s suite.
  • Refreshment Breaks during the meeting:
    Beverages and snacks available at mid-morning and mid-afternoon.
  • Tuesday 
    Tuesday is our opening plenary session . It will include:  

    • Opening ceremony blessing- Geraldine Manson, Snuneymuxw First Nation
    • The Honourable John R. Ruttan, Mayor, Nanaimo
    • Mark Saunders, Pacific Biological Station, Dept. Fish and Oceans
    • Dr. Jack Helle, Retired Scientist from Auke Bay Lab
    • Honored Scientist- Dr. Brian Riddell, Pacific Salmon Foundation
    • Jim Humphreys, Fisheries Director – Americas, Marine Stewardship Council

                    Tuesday lunch (included in registration fee) will feature a special presentation by                             Jenny Atkinson, Executive Director of  The Whale Museum (in Friday Harbor WA)

  • Tuesday Night: Poster & Trade Show Social
    Join Conference attendees and trade show participants to see some of the ongoing activities and research in our professions while enjoying an abundance of delicacies, food samplers and beverages.
  • Wednesday Lunch is our Business meeting where lunch is provided for conference attendants. The business lunch will include Parent, Division and AFS Chapter news and updates.

    • State of the WA-BC Chapter- Jim Shannon President, Erin Lowery Treasurer, Tad Schwaeger Chair of Student Affairs Committee
  • Wednesday Night: Raffle and Awards Banquet
    • Join conference attendees for Chapter Awards, Raffle, and live music.
    • Awards and raffle items will be distributed through out the evening.
    • Live Music by the DFO Band: “Freelane”!
    • We will also have Ken Kirkby- Artist, Conservationist, and President of the Nile Creek Enhancement Society as our banquet speaker. 

Thursday immediately after the meeting, there is opportunity to tour the fisheries facilities at Vancouver Island University. You must sign up in advance at the Registration Desk. You can order a box lunch at that time.
