Program Committee

The Program Committee Co-Chairs, or their designees, will:

• In coordination with the LAC and the Promotions Chair, develop and finalize the first call for papers and symposia, and all subsequent calls for publication on the web and in Fisheries

• Review proposals for, and select symposia for the Annual meeting.

• Coordinate the abstract submission process, program development and technical content, with input from the AFS President and LAC Co-Chairs.

• Coordinate the technical program with other meeting activity chairs who are coordinating all program logistics.

• Assign individual presentations to rooms and times, in cooperation with the Accommodations Chair and the Meeting Room Arrangement Subcommittee.

• Communicate acceptance/rejection, instructions, and guidelines to symposium organizers and to all presenters.

• Appoint the following subcommittees:

  • Abstract Management Subcommittee or their designees will:
    • Receive abstracts and insure they meet published specifications, requiring resubmittal as necessary
    • Circulate received abstracts to other subcommittees for consideration
    • Coordinate with other subcommittees to accept or reject abstracts and inform submitters of acceptance or rejection
    • Coordinate with other subcommittees to decide whether non-symposium abstracts will result in posters or contributed papers
    • Coordinate with other subcommittees to organize and format abstracts as appropriate for publication on the web or distribution on portable media (CD or thumb drive)
  • Symposium Subcommittee or their designees will:
    • Assist and coordinate with others in assisting symposium developers and prospective symposium developers
    • Accept or reject proposed symposia
    • Coordinate with Contributed Papers Subcommittee to schedule symposia
    • Make modifications to symposium schedule as needed and insure that changes are communicated to Signs Subcommittee
    • Insure that symposium organizers are apprised of their responsibilities in managing the symposium presentations
    • Assist presenters on site
    • Contributed Papers Subcommittee or their designees will:
      • Organize contributed papers thematically into sessions
      • Coordinate with Symposia Subcommittee to schedule contributed papers sessions
      • Make modifications to contributed papers schedule as needed and insure that changes are communicated to Signs Subcommittee
      • Insure that contributed paper sessions are adequately manned either by student help or volunteer session chairs
      • Assist presenters on site
    • Poster Session Subcommittee or their designees, will coordinate with the Accommodations Chair and the Trade Show Liaison to:
      • Make arrangements for the floor space required for the poster session
      • Arrange for poster display stands and tape, pins, or other materials for mounting posters.
      • Determine the layout of the posters and assign spaces for poster presenters.
      • Assist presenters on-site.
